Affordable Housing Specialist

I am an affordable housing specialist with nearly twenty years’ experience building homes and communities across North Carolina. Born in the Midwest, I spent my summers in Swansboro and Emerald Isle, growing to love North Carolina from the mountains to the sea and adopting it as my home.

A graduate of Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I began my career at Self-Help, where I directed their New Markets Tax Credit program. Since then, I have sought opportunities in the public and private sectors that utilize federal and state programs including New Markets Tax Credits, Opportunity Zones, Historic Tax Credits, Low Income Housing Tax Credits, and Small Business Administration loans to maximize benefit to the communities, whether a $5,000 small business loan for operating capital or a $50 million phase of the American Tobacco campus.

As Director of Affordable Housing at Eagle Rock Advisors and Affordable Housing Specialist at Sanford Holshouser, I partner with local governments in all 100 counties to provide specialized finance and development expertise and drive the development of affordable housing, including:

  • Federal HUD and USDA housing investments
  • Federal Low Income Housing Tax Credit
  • Workforce Housing Loan Program
  • NC Housing Trust Fund
  • Local investments through bonds or other dedicated revenue streams
  • Revolving loan funds
  • Master planning developments
  • Policy development and implementation
  • Site development from acquisition through pre-development stages
  • Neighborhood redevelopment

Outside of work I am a passionate proponent of education, serving as Regional Chair of an advisory council for an independent preparatory school and as Sanford Representative to the Duke Triangle Regional Alumni Board. I also volunteer with Durham Children’s Initiative and Madison CUSD in East St. Louis, Illinois.
