We hope it’s no secret how much our firm appreciates our friends across this great state. Thanks to you, Project Santa at Sanford Holshouser brought plenty of cheer to our Carrboro office. We sent out a request for ornaments that represented your neck of the woods in North Carolina, and we were not disappointed in the results.
Beautiful Alexander County, home to apple orchards, sent us a brass apple ornament for our tree. It’s a great reminder of the wonderful farms in this county, which is home to the Brushy Mountains, known as a “spur” of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Alleghany County, the Christmas tree capital, sent an ornament of a Frasier fir loaded on a truck to represent the families that come there to cut their own. We also got a playful note saying they hoped their ornament would be hung on a live tree. Of course!
Thank you to the Town of Bunn for the sled ornament that says, “Santa is coming to Bunn”. And, why wouldn’t he, because plenty of folks there on are on the nice list. One of the Town staff actually ran home for the ornament while Ashley was visiting. Now that’s small-town hospitality!
Orange County is our firm’s home. Their ornament contribution aptly showcases the landmarks in this county with photos of food, farms, music, arts, and, of course, a hand-painted Tar Heel.
Thank you to Granville County for the Thornton Library ornament. Thornton Library is the county’s primary library located in historic downtown Oxford.
The Hope Mill’s ornament says, “Life is better at Hope Mills Lake”. Fun fact: the Hope Mills area was once known as “Little Rockfish Village,” and life there has been centered around water since the colonial days.
Not to be left out, Rockingham County shared a metal ornament in the shape of our great state with their name spelled out. And, Fuquay-Varina mailed in a ceramic ornament with their name colorfully painted on it.
As for our firm’s addition, we placed a red cardinal, the official State Bird of North Carolina since 1943, atop our office tree. Thank you again to all you for participating this year. We at Sanford Holshouser wish you a wonderful 2020!
